Same sex marriage discrimination should be stopped.

Same-sex marriage is an issue a lot of people face in today’s world. To deny same sex partners to be able to be married is discrimination; all same-sex relationships should be able to have the same legal benefits, no one can decide who they fall in love with, bible stories interpretations, and now the Supreme Court has made it illegal to not allow gay marriage in the United States.

The first point is that all same-sex couples should be allowed to have the same legal benefits and protections as married couples do. There are 1,138 benefits, rights and protections available to married couples in federal laws alone. Some benefits include access to family health coverage, hospital visitation during an illness, option of filing a joint tax return to reduce a tax burden, inheritance rights if a partner dies and many more. Married couples also have access to protections for if the relationship ends, including child custody, an equitable division of property and more.  Married couples in the US armed forces are offered health insurance and other benefits which are unavailable to domestic partners. An analysis by the New York Times estimated that same-sex couples end up spending an additional $41,196 to $467,562 in expenses over their lifetime compared to married couples. Studies show that unmarried woman pay up to one million dollars more over their lifetimes than married woman for taxes, healthcare, and other expenses. These facts show how much more money people who aren’t married have to spend and how many rights and protections are taken from them. Just because they are with a partner of the same sex shouldn’t mean that they aren’t allowed the same benefits and rights of married straight couples.

The second point is that no one can choose who they are attracted too. Why would anyone choose a life of humiliation, discrimination and bullying? No one. That is why you should accept people and leave them be no matter what sex they are attracted too. People say America is a free and equal country and they want everyone to be equal but if they don’t allow same-sex marriage that is a form of discriminatory. No one can force someone into loving someone they aren’t attracted too. You like who you are attracted too.

You see most of the people fighting against same-sex marriage using the reason, it is against god’s religion. But also trimming your beard, getting tattoos, selling your land permanently and many other reasons are against his religion. It’s guaranteed that at least nearly fifty percent of Christians have done at least one of these things. So why is same-sex marriage such a big problem?

Overall, people should stop hating and bullying gay people, they do not affect your life, they are happy with the people they are with, so just leave them alone. The only struggle for them is always getting hate, this is why people need to realise it is normal and to leave them be. That is why same-sex marriage should be legalised so they can live a normal, happy life like everyone else without discrimination.
